NORMAN Mapeza was sacked as Scottland coach yesterday – just days after the Mabvuku side crashed out of the CAF Champions League in Angola.
The veteran coach was dismissed together with his entire coaching staff with team manager Peter Ndlovu the only one to be spared from the bloodbath.
The former Warriors captain has been given the authority to lead the team, on an interim basis, until a substantive replacement for Mapeza has been found.
Yesterday, Ndlovu held a meeting with Danger Fourpence who has been promoted from the Scottland Academy to join the coaching staff of the champions.
Veteran forward Knowledge Musona, who has been asked to ensure that the players remain committed to the club’s cause during these changes, also attended the meeting.
Sources said Scottland are now targeting a Portuguese coach.
The Harare side have four games remaining in the league and they are also in the semi-finals of the Munhumutapa Challenge Cup.
The developments yesterday mean that both Scottland and Angolan giants Petro Atletico de Luanda, who met in their CAF Champions League second round battle, have now both sacked their coaches.
Mapeza joined Scottland at the beginning of the season and appeared set to lead the club to the league title after they established a seven-point lead midway during the season.
