MARSHALL Munetsi is out of the AFCON finals and Warriors coach Super Mario is staring at a whirlwind of injuries, late arrivals and unforgiving deadlines as the AFCON finals draw closer.
Zimbabwe kick off in Morocco in just ten days and the man in charge is racing against a clock that refuses to slow down.
He must chop his squad today and hand CAF the final list tomorrow.
“Well, at the moment we have 32 players and we are expecting seven or so more players that we have to see . . .
“But after Wednesday (today), we’ll be having to make the final call and the final list,” he said.
Nakamba, Hadebe, Bonne, Padera and Mudimu are finally in but the relief did not last.
Jordan Zemura limped off after 15 minutes for Udinese on Monday night and the Warriors were left holding their breath.
Doctors were still checking the damage.
Wolves confirmed Munetsi’s calf injury was worse than first feared. His manager offered no comfort.
“It’ll be weeks. I don’t know how many at the moment, but I think at the moment it’s looking like at least six weeks,” Edwards told the British media.
The Warriors fly out next Tuesday.
“On 18 (Thursday), we will do a recovery session, a light session. On 19th, is when we conduct the training session you could do under the CAF schedule.
“On the 20th, we’re going to be travelling from Marrakech to Agadir. On the 22nd, we play. So basically, in five days, you have only one training session.”
