Masvingo City adopts new master plan

George Maponga in Masvingo

Masvingo City Council has adopted a new master plan that will guide the ancient city’s development trajectory for the next 20 years.
The master plan envisions turning Masvingo City into an industrialised metropolitan in line with Vision 2030.

Town Clerk Engineer Edward Mukaratirwa said the new master plan is in response to President Mnangagwa’s “Call to Action-No Compromise to Service Delivery” which recognizes local authorities as hot spots for stimulating socio-economic development in line with Vision 2030.

He said the plan is a product of consultation by the city’s policymakers and includes input from key stakeholders.

Crafting of the plan kicked off in February and was completed last month.

The plan is now ready for inspection by residents and other interested parties for the next two months before it is submitted to the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works for approval.
