SCOTLAND-BASED forward Tawanda Maswanhise is hoping to carry his form to the Warriors when they clash with Benin in Cote d’lvoire on Friday.
The Motherwell star has been on top of his game, and looks set to be one of Michael Nees key man in Zimbabwe’s bid to save their World Cup qualifiers campaign.
“I don’t really care how we do it, but we just need the three points both games. But the main focus is Friday.
“Get three points on Friday, then we’re good to go for the next game. Yeah, 100 percent. Obviously form is key, and it brings a lot of confidence,” said Maswanhise.
“So hopefully I can bring that on Friday and show you guys I can do my best. Yeah, I arrived yesterday at night, got a good night’s sleep. So the weather out here is not too bad, but I’m coping. So yeah, it’s been a really good session.”
The Warriors had a terrible start to the campaign before the arrival of Nees, and South Africa on 13 points in group C, are on the driving seat.
Rwanda are second with eight points, Benin third on the same points with an inferior goal difference, Nigeria are fourth with points, Lesotho fifth with six points and Zimbabwe at the bottom with four points from four draws.
“… Looking forward to the Friday game. Yeah, now I’m buzzing. Familiar faces in England, and obviously I’ve been with them for the last two years, getting to know them better each camp, and I can’t wait to get going again on Friday,” said Maswanhise.
