FEMALE body-builder and model Kudakwashe Matsvai is hopeful that she will do well at the annual Mr and Ms Mufakose tournament to be held at Rutendo Hall tomorrow.

The seasoned athlete who has gained experience in body-building and modelling said she is happy to be part of the contestants to take to the stage at this year’s edition.

“I am really excited for being one of the people who are going to compete in this event. I have been preparing for this competition for the past two months and I am really prepared,’’ Matsvai said.

“This is not my first time on stage as I have competed in many district and national events.

“I have just decided to come back to Mufakose not because I am experienced or I want to win, but to inspire other girls in my community.

“I received a lot of support from my family, friends and others during my preparations.

“The Mr and Ms Mufakose body-building and modelling contest is very important because through modelling, speeches and other activities that we will be doing, we will be sharing the real-life stories and benefits of living a beautiful life without drugs and substance abuse,” Matsvai.

Four categories — the juniors, seniors, open men’s competition and the bikini modelling category — are on the cards.

One of the organisers Masarira Silingwani, is happy with the response the event has received from both athletes and corporate partners.

“The preparations have gone on smoothly. We have managed to secure medals, trophies and shields for the big day.

“We are still looking forward to have more partners to come on board and support us,’ said Silingwani.

The return of the competition is part and parcel of efforts to revive both the sport and the Mufakose Community Gym.
