CONNIE Mazani, Feli Nandi’s manager, says her desire is to see female artists taking up their space on big stages in Zimbabwe.

She feels the space has been dominated by men for a long time.

“For years, our music industry has been heavily male-dominated, and while female artists have been doing exceptionally well, they often sidelined and don’t get the same platforms or recognition.”

For a change Tamy Moyo, Feli Nandi, Gemma Griffith , Nisha Ts, and Shashl will share notes at the Nubian Notes concert.

“The inspiration for Nubian Notes came from a deep desire to see women take up their rightful space on some of the biggest stages in Zimbabwe.

“I want to change that narrative. Nubian Notes is not just a concert — it’s a movement. The vision was to create an event that celebrates African royalty, feminine brilliance, and unapologetic artistry.

“I wanted our artists to embody that same sense of pride, excellence, and leadership on stage.

“This project is very personal to me because I believe in the power of women supporting and uplifting each other.”

Running under the theme “Mambokadzi – The Rise of Her Sound,” the event is being held in partnership with ZAR Events and Gateway Stream Media.

“As a woman-led company, Zar Events has always championed inclusivity and representation and Nubian Notes is the boldest expression of that yet.

“What makes it special is that it’s not just entertainment — it’s symbolic.

“It says to every young girl watching that women can lead, women can unite, and women can fill the HICC just as men have done. I see this project inspiring the industry to value female talent even more, opening doors for more all-women lineups, and creating a cultural shift where society begins to fully embrace women in positions of influence and power, not just in music but across all sectors,” she said.

Mazani said Nubian Notes aims to change that narrative by celebrating African royalty, feminine brilliance, and unapologetic artistry.

“Choosing this lineup was very intentional. Each of these women represents a unique sound, personality, and generation of Zimbabwean music.

“Tamy Moyo is a powerhouse — versatile, youthful, and a symbol of consistency. Feli Nandi brings soul, depth, and a fusion of cultural and modern sounds that connects to our roots.

“Gemma has a bold, global sound that reflects African excellence on any stage. Nisha Ts represents the new wave, fresh energy, and a fearless spirit that resonates with young audiences.”
