MENTAL health activist and wellness coach, Avril Nachipo, has launched her new book titled “Wo/Man’s Worth.”
It explores mental health, self-worth and the journey towards healing.
The book highlights how mental health challenges such as depression, anxiety, trauma and Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder ADHD can affect people’s perception of themselves and the world around them.
In an interview, Nachipo said the inspiration behind the book was born out of experiences with mental health struggles, adversity, setbacks and the pressures of societal expectations.
“A Wo/Man’s Worth is more than a book. It is an invitation to a journey of identifying, awakening, acknowledging and reclaiming our self-worth.
“My deepest wish is that every reader finds themselves in these pages and builds a safer home within,” she said.
Written from a Christian perspective, the 16-chapter book encourages readers to embrace their identity as God’s creation while challenging negative perceptions shaped by the world.
The story follows fictional characters, including Katie, Jake and Lana, whose lives reflect common mental health struggles such as social anxiety, low self-esteem, imposter syndrome, perfectionism, depression and the lasting effects of trauma.
Nachipo said through their experiences readers can be encouraged to understand that healing is a journey rather than a destination.
The book also tackles issues such as people-pleasing, setting healthy boundaries, reconnecting with one’s inner child, overcoming self-sabotage and learning to let go of shame and guilt.
She believes many people silently battle emotional pain and hopes the book will create conversations around mental health while encouraging readers to seek healing and rediscover their purpose.
As a passionate mental health advocate, Avril dedicated herself to raising awareness on mental wellness through coaching, public speaking and community engagement.
Nachipo said she hopes the book will become a companion for anyone struggling with their identity, reminding them that despite life’s challenges, they are valuable, loved and worthy.
