Mhandu finishes 5th in Botswana

ZIMBABWE’S Caroline Mhandu posted an encouraging performance when placing fifth at the Botswana International Cross Country in Modipane.
Mhandu, competing in the senior women 10km finished fifth with a time of 38 minutes 45 seconds.
She managed to improve her time from 39 minutes 58.44 seconds she posted during the national event last month.
Mhandu is working towards her participation at the World Cross Country Championships next month in Tallahassee, Florida, United States.
And the event in Botswana, which is part of the World Athletics Cross Country Tour presented her with a chance to assess her preparations for her next assignment.
It was also a good day for Melody Kaseke of Black Rhinos, who came third in 37 minutes 30 seconds.
The race was won by Lavinia Haitope of Nampol Club from Namibia in 36 minutes 03 seconds.
The senior men’s 10km was won by Karabo Bosele, also of Bdf Athletic Club in 31 minutes 31 seconds.
