MUTARE is set to come alive with the powerful sounds of gospel music as Minister Michael Mahendere brings his much-anticipated Messiah Tour to Chancellor Primary School.

Known for his fine vocals and song writing skills, Mahendere has carved a niche for himself in Zimbabwe’s gospel musical landscape.

The Messiah Tour represents more than a concert series, it embodies a movement aimed at uniting people in worship while providing a platform for emerging artists to showcase their talents.

Minister Mahendere said it is all systems go as he heads to Mutare.

“Everywhere we go, we are carrying one message – that Jesus is the Messiah,” Mahendere said.

“All is set for the show and I am happy so far with the progress.”

With a successful edition already held in Harare, the anticipation is palpable as he prepares to uplift the hearts of the people in Mutare.

Mahendere will then take his ministry to the United Kingdom in Bedford for a show that will be hosted by Grateful Experience.

The Mutare concert will feature a carefully selected line-up of performers, blending the experience of established artists with the fresh talents of the next generation.

“Among those sharing the stage with Mahendere are Minister Ellard and Sharon Cherayi, the husband-and-wife duo.

“They will be joined by the Svondo Music Choir, Priscilla Tande, and Minister Prince, all of whom represent a new wave of Zimbabwean gospel artistry, “ said Minister Mahendere.

The Messiah singer is passionate about nurturing young talent.

“When I look back at my own journey, I realise that someone gave me a chance,” he said.

“Now it is my responsibility to do the same for others. The future of gospel music lies in these young people and they deserve to be seen and heard.”

This commitment to mentorship is evident in the line-up for the Mutare concert, where many of the emerging artists will have the opportunity to share a stage with one of Zimbabwe’s most respected gospel figures.

Formerly a member of the celebrated Mahendere Brothers, he has successfully transitioned into a solo career, releasing albums which resonate deeply with audiences.

His works, particularly the Getting Personal With God series, have solidified his status as a leading figure in gospel music.

Songs like Salt of the Earth, Makanaka Jesu, Tangai Neni and Ndinobuda Pakaoma have become anthems in churches and homes throughout Zimbabwe and beyond.

“When God gives you a gift, it is not for you to keep,” he said.

“It is for the nations. My dream is to see gospel music from Zimbabwe ministering on international stages and that is why the UK tour in November is so important.”

His vision is not just about personal success, it’s about elevating the entire genre and showcasing the rich talent emerging from Zimbabwe.

Commenting about his collaborations, he said that they have also played a significant role in his career.

He has worked with various regional and international gospel artists, blending different musical styles to create a sound that resonates with diverse audiences.

This openness to collaboration enriches his ministry, allowing him to reach people from various backgrounds.

For gospel lovers, the Messiah Tour is more than just a concert, it serves as a powerful reminder of how music can unite, inspire, and transform lives.

As Mahendere continues on his journey, he remains committed to his calling, ensuring that the message of hope, love, and faith reaches far and wide.

With each performance, he solidifies his place as one of Zimbabwe’s greatest gospel exports, paving the way for future generations of artists to follow in his footsteps.
