Matabeleland South’s Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Albert Nguluvhe, who also serves as the Member of Parliament for Beitbridge East Constituency, is working on broadening a poultry empowerment programme.

The initiative primarily focuses on cooperatives, schools and public institutions, to benefit the majority of community members in the region.
At the weekend, he handed over 175 road-runner chickens to vulnerable groups in Tshipise, Ward 1.
He said the initiative seeks to empower local youths, women’s development groups, war veterans and widows through sustainable livelihood support.

Minister Nguluvhe said since the beginning of the year he had distributed thousands of chickens to different interest group in Beitbridge.
The programme operates on a pass-on model, where beneficiaries grow their flocks and contribute to the community’s economic growth.

The Minister highlighted that he plans to further expand the programme to include more community and institutions to strengthen economic resilience and foster sustainable development in Beitbridge East.
