THE Minister of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture, Rtd Lieutenant General Anselem Nhamo Sanyatwe, paid a strategic visit to the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe (NACZ) headquarters in Harare today.
The visit aimed to assess NACZ’s operations, discuss policy frameworks, and explore ways to ensure the sustainability and growth of Zimbabwe’s creative industry.
In a statement on social media, NACZ highlighted the significance of the visit: “The Honourable Minister of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture, Lt Gen (Rtd) Ambassador AN Sanyatwe, undertook a strategic working visit to the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe headquarters today. The visit aimed to assess the Council’s ongoing operations, discuss policy frameworks, and reaffirm the government’s commitment to revitalising the nation’s creative and cultural sectors. The delegation from the ministry included Deputy Minister Hon E Jesaya, Permanent Secretary Mr N Moyo, and Chief Director Dr E Chidhakwa.”
Speaking at a Nama capacity-building workshop following the meeting, NACZ executive director Napoleon “Napster” Nyanhi said discussions focused on key issues, particularly the funding of the arts sector.
“I did not manage to be fully present at this workshop as we had several crucial meetings. One of the key issues discussed was funding for the arts sector. More details will be shared in the coming months,” Napster said.
