THE Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure Development on Thursday officially opened a 3.6-kilometre road stretch along the Bulawayo-Victoria Falls highway in Hwange.
The newly completed section starts from the Hwange Police Station and extends towards Victoria Falls.
This development is part of the extensive 51km stretch allocated to contractor Bitumen.

The 3.6km road is in addition to a previously completed 10km stretch in Hwange, significantly improving movement within the town.
An official from the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure Development expressed optimism regarding the project’s pace.

“By the time the rainy season finishes, we hope the contractors will have finished another 10km of road construction,” the official said.
The Ministry indicated satisfaction with the progress made so far on the strategic national route.
The official opening was attended by local traditional leaders, including Chief Hwange and Chief Nekatambe.

Chief Nekatambe lauded the road construction efforts, noting that the upgrades were necessary as traffic had been experiencing serious challenges in the area.
