It is hard for a bird to break free from an egg. It is even harder for it to learn to fly while remaining inside the egg.
There are seasons in life when we desperately want the difficulty to end. We pray for the door to open, the burden to lift, the obstacle to disappear and the struggle to finally make sense. Yet sometimes, what we call a difficulty is actually part of the process through which God is preparing us for what we have been asking Him to become. You see, some difficulties are necessary for your growth, your strength and your becoming.
The Difficulty Working in You
We often measure a difficult season by what it is taking from us. But perhaps we should also ask what it is building within us.
Pressure can develop resilience, disappointment can deepen wisdom while rejection can redirect us. Most importantly, failure can expose weaknesses that success would have allowed us to ignore. The challenge is not always there to destroy you. Sometimes, it is there to develop you.
A bird does not become stronger by wishing the shell away. It becomes strong by pushing against it. In the same way, there are battles you must face, lessons you must learn and barriers you must overcome because there is something on the other side of them that requires a stronger version of you.
Stop Resisting Every Necessary Struggle
Sometimes, the very thing you are asking God to remove is strengthening the capacity you will need for your next season.
Consider a seed; It must first break before it can become a plant. The breaking is not the end of its story; it is part of its becoming.
Yes, your current season may feel like a breaking. Perhaps you are tired of pushing, stretching and trying again. But do not mistake discomfort for defeat. There are things that cannot be developed in comfort.
Your Current Struggle Is Not Your Final Destination
The danger of difficult seasons is that they can make us lose sight of who we are and where we are going. But remember you are not defined by your circumstances, and neither is your future defined by the pressure you currently are under.
Your responsibility is to keep moving.
Keep learning, praying and believing. Keep showing up, doing the work. Keep confronting the inner barriers that tell you that you cannot. You were not created merely to survive your circumstances. You were created to transcend limitations, awaken the potential within you and pursue a life of purpose.
Reflection of the Week
Ask yourself:
What difficulty am I currently facing that may actually be developing something I will need for my future?
That question can transform the way you experience adversity.
Challenge of the Week
This week, identify one difficulty you have been complaining about and deliberately look for the lesson, strength or capacity it may be developing in you.
Then take one courageous step forward, even if the situation has not changed.
Do not wait for everything to become easy before you move.
Partying Word
Keep going.
The egg may be difficult to break, but the bird was never created to remain inside it.
Your circumstances may be uncomfortable, but you were not created to remain trapped by them.
Break through the limiting beliefs. Rise above disappointment. Confront what has held you back. There is more in you than your present circumstances reveal.
The difficulty may be necessary, but it is not permanent. Keep pushing, growing and becoming.
Your wings were not given to you for the egg. They were given to you for the sky.
