UNITED States-based Zimbabwean footballer Francis Motsi continues to shine as he was named the 2025 Sooner Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Year and First Team All-SAC.
Motsui now a senior at Wayland Baptist University, was voted the most effective midfilder and was ahead of senior goalkeeper Alex Neri who received second team All-SAC honours.
Motsi was an offensive enigma for the Pioneers throughout the 2025 season where he started the season strongly – scoring crucial goals and providing effective assists.
The Chitungwiza-born Motsi led the Sooner Athletic Conference in multiple statistical categories including shots (72) and shots on-goal (48), while also tying for the conference lead in assists with eight.
Motsi also scored eight goals during the season to finish his campaign on a high note.
Speaking from his base in the United States, Motsi said he is happy with his progress and owed everything to hard work.
“I am happy for being nominated for such an accolade and it is all because of hard work and I look forward to continue doing well,” he said.
Motsi’s teammate Neri a native of Frosinone, Italy, earned Second Team All-SAC honors after becoming a stalwart for the Pioneers between the posts.
Neri finished the 2025 season with a 7-5-2 record, 61 saves in 15 games played, and 1.92 GAA.
Across the final five home games for the Pioneers, Neri only allowed three goals, including clean sheets in the final two matches.
This was Neri’s second All-SAC Award after earning 2024 First Team All-SAC last season.
