One of Bulawayo’s top musical talents, Msiz’kay, will celebrate his 36th birthday on Friday, June 20, with the release of a new single titled Okwaziyo. The milestone also marks the beginning of a fresh journey, as the multi-award-winning artiste rolls out a new monetisation model beyond traditional streaming platforms.
To coincide with the release, Msiz’kay has launched a unique campaign dubbed “Pay What You Want”, an initiative that allows fans to purchase his music directly by offering any amount they choose.
“Okwaziyo,” produced by Taffy Gee, BLiZY, and Msiz’kay himself, is an Afro-fusion track released under his label, Woo Haa Music.
Speaking on the new release and the campaign, Msiz’kay said the initiative is a way to deepen his connection with supporters while improving his earnings from music.
“The Pay What You Want campaign is a way for me to connect directly with fans and to earn more from my music than I would through online streaming,” he said.
Describing the song, he said: “Okwaziyo is a public announcement in musical form. It’s a heartfelt plea to the world to help me bring my lost lover back home.”
Msiz’kay continues to grow his footprint in Zimbabwe’s music industry with innovation and consistency, traits that have earned him a loyal following. – Follow on X: @mthabisi_mthire
