ELISHA Mukusha has been appointed coach of the Pacific Storm ZIFA Eastern Region Division One side FC Wangu Mazodze with immediate effect.
The experienced Mukusha, who is taking the position formerly occupied by John Nyikadzino at the start of last season and George Magariro later, will be assisted by Martin Nyanzira.
Mukusha has coached several teams in the Northern and Eastern Region and he is eager to face the new challenge.
“It is with great pleasure to be given this opportunity to lead FC Wangu Mazodze in its 2026 quest to gain promotion to the elite league. I feel greatly honoured to have been chosen as the head coach,” he said.
“It is every coach’s dream to be part of an ambitious and well-organised club as it is where your best craft will be noticed as a craftsman.”
The former Starbill and Eastern Stars coach wants to bring in more experienced players during this transfer window.
“On the issue of players, there is room for us to look for some additions and beef up the existing team. A balanced team will be our major priority, as we want to be competitive. We need to have a well-balanced team in all departments and make sure we have good quality assurances.
“The Eastern Region League has grown to be one of the best in the country. There are so many teams which were demoted from the Premier League last year which we will be playing against and we should be ready,” said Mukusha.
The gaffer said he was well received by his new team and he owes the supporters something special in the 2026 season.
“I had a warm reception coming to join FC Wangu Mazodze and I will prioritise the supporters who are the real owners of the game and they have accepted me with open hands.
“They anticipate a good performance from their team and are very supportive and encouraging.
“Our aim by the end of the season is to fight for the championship,” added Mukusha.
