MULTICHOICE TALENT FACTORY STUDENTS MOVE INTO LUSAKA ACADEMY

THE MultiChoice Talent Factory course for aspiring Southern African filmmakers moved up a notch recently when the students moved from online training in their home countries to the Lusaka MTF Academy venue.

Two Zimbabweans, Anthony Chiturike and Tatenda Kombora, are on this year’s course.

They are following in the footsteps of other young Zimbabweans who have been part of the MTF journey since it was launched in 2018.

The MultiChoice Talent Factory training initiative gives the students a chance to develop skills and learn everything about the process of filmmaking, as well as helping them become participants in Africa’s fast-growing film and television production landscape.

“I have been amazed at the variety of languages and people, and to interact with them all has been an eye-opening experience,” Kombora said.

“It has been a great space for learning and not only are we all from different countries and backgrounds, but we also have different focus interests.

“We have people whose focus is cinematography, others keen on writing or editing and so on.

“It’s been so good.”

She said wants to be a scriptwriter who actually sells scripts, as well as be the creator of a show that stands the test of time, lasting decades perhaps and becoming synonymous with a culture.

“I have been developing a television show idea, as well as that of a documentary and even a full feature film, and I hope my growth will lead to that,” she said.
