MULTIPLE homicide suspect, Anymore Zvitsva, is MENTALLY STABLE to stand trial and is expected back in court today for trial commencement.
Zvitsva appeared before Harare regional magistrate, Francis Mapfumo, yesterday
The magistrate couldn’t proceed with the matter because the report hadn’t been formally placed before him.
Prosecutor Lancelot Mutsokoti told the court that the prosecuting authority had requested that the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services bring Zvitsva to court after being appraised of the report and on the understanding that he’s pleading to ten counts of rape and armed robbery.
The State is expected to put the charges to him today.
Amongst other allegations, prosecutors alleged that on March 25 last year, at Plot 43 Nyakanupu, Guruve, Zvitsva went to Charity Chidhawu’s home where he found her in the company of her two-year-old son.
Zvitsva was armed with a machete.
He allegedly forcibly marched the 20-year-old mother and her toddler son into a thicket within the Nyakapupu mountain area, approximately one kilometre away from the homestead.
On arrival in the thicket he allegedly tied Chidhawu to a tree and killed her using a machete. After allegedly killing her, Zvitsva dug a shallow pit, mutilated the body by cutting the limps to make it fit and buried her.
He then allegedly killed Chidhawu’s son using a machete, dug another shallow pit and buried him.
On another charge, the court heard that on September 24 last year, Zvitsva met Tariro Gotora as she was herding cattle along Hunyani River, Chiwe Village, Raffingora.
She was carrying her baby on her back.
Zvitsva, who was armed with a machete, allegedly ordered Gotora to remove the baby from her back and throw him into Chisanga River.
And, she complied. Gotora was then dragged into a nearby bush where Zvitsva raped her.
After raping her, Zvitsva strangled her with a snare wire then dragged her body to Hunyani River and threw it into the river.
On October 9, Providence Maruza, 27, was sleeping in her room at Ditwi Village, Chiwe Farm, Raffingora, and her door was unlocked.
Zvitsva, who was armed with an Okapi knife and a snare wire, pushed the door open and gained entry into the room.
While inside, he threatened to kill Maruza if ever she screamed.
She tied her and dragged her towards the thicket of Dangemuri mountains where he allegedly raped her once.
After the act he stabbed her once on the back and neck and left the scene.
On October 27 Zvitsva, armed with a machete, met Reginet Sango at Mudhindo Village, Chief Bepura, Kachuta, Guruve.
Sango, 62, was fetching water at a local borehole.
Zvitsva produced the machete from his jacket and demanded to have sexual intercourse with her. She attempted to flee but Zvitsva pursued and caught up with her.
He struck her once on the head and once on the left arm with the machete and then allegedly raped her once without protection.
He then allegedly strangled her with a wire around the neck, and left her unconscious at the scene.
