THIS is the picture of a mother and her child who were among the four people killed in a road accident along the Harare/Chinhoyi highway on Sunday.
The four, who were travelling in a Mazda 3, were coming to Chinhoyi while the haulage truck was heading towards Harare.
The accident happened at the 103 kilometre peg when the haulage truck encroached into the lane of the Mazda 3, resulting in a head-on collision.
Three of those who died were trapped inside the Mazda 3 while the other one was tossed out of the vehicle through the window.
Police confirmed the accident.
“The ZRP confirms a fatal road traffic accident which occurred at the 103 km peg along Harare-Chirundu Road on 17/08/25 at around 1600 hours.
“A motorist driving a Mazda 3 vehicle towards Chinhoyi, with three passengers on board, collided head-on with a Howo Sino Truck travelling in the opposite direction.
“As a result of the crash, three occupants of the Mazda 3 were trapped in the vehicle while another was thrown out of the vehicle and all the four occupants died on the spot.
“The bodies of the victims were referred to Banket Hospital for post-mortem examination.”
