MUSICIAN Mzoe 7’s dreams of working with legendary poet Albert Nyathi are finally coming to fruition as the two creatives have teamed up on a new song titled, Angila Mali.
The track, produced by K Martin, urges Zimbabweans in the diaspora to always remember their roots. It encourages them to invest back home and uplift the lives of their loved ones.
Angila Mali is set for release at the end of the month, with Mzoe 7 revealing that they are working closely with cinematographer Rasquesity of Keaitse Films and Brand Urgency on the video production. The visuals will feature content creator Sporori, renowned model Zanele Moyo and Thabbz.
Mzoe 7 said growing up, he always admired Albert Nyathi’s creativity, describing him as a true legend and a role model who continues to lead by example in the arts sector.
“I started admiring Nyathi back in the days when I saw him on television, when his song Senzeni Na! was a hit and frequently played on ZBCtv’s Ezomgido.
“My dream had always been to meet him. Most of the time, when I finally got to see him at shows or gatherings, I became star-struck and afraid to ever ask for a collaboration. But deep down, I knew how much I wished to work with him,” said Mzoe 7.
He added that the power of social media helped bridge the gap, as he once expressed his admiration for Nyathi’s artistry in a Facebook post, stating how he wished to work with him someday.
After seeing the post, the legend himself reached out, instantly making Mzoe 7’s dream a reality.
Nyathi said he was moved by Mzoe 7’s passion and energy, describing him as one of Zimbabwe’s rare talents whose brand is growing in a positive direction.
“I don’t usually do collaborations as my schedule is always busy. Besides, I consider a lot of factors before agreeing to work with anyone. But when I saw Mzoe 7’s post about how I inspired him and that he wished to collaborate with me, I didn’t hesitate.
“He’s an asset to our music industry, full of energy and passion for his craft. I couldn’t say no to working with a young soul like him who constantly pushes himself to the limit. I’m happy that I made his dream come true, and I also enjoyed working with him on this project,” said Nyathi.
