Arts and entertainment play a crucial role in shaping culture, expressing ideas and fostering community.

From visual arts to music, theatre and film, these creatives serve not only as a source of enjoyment but also as a means of communication and social commentary.

At the heart of any successful awards show, such as the National Arts Merit Awards (NAMA), lies the pivotal role of an events manager.

An events manager is responsible for orchestrating every detail of the event, from planning and logistics to execution.

Their expertise ensures that the show runs smoothly, allowing artists and nominees to shine.

A well-managed event creates an atmosphere of celebration and recognition, which is essential for honouring the hard work and creativity of individuals in the arts industry.

The National Arts Council of Zimbabwe, through NAMA, yesterday announced its new event managers for the 2026-2030 tenure, appointing “Scarlet Studios” in partnership with Events Evolution.

This decision came after a thorough selection process, demonstrating the importance of choosing the right team to uphold the integrity and excellence of the awards.

NACZ’s Communication and Marketing manager, Aggabu Nyabinde, said, “NACZ is pleased to announce the appointment of Scarlet Studios in partnership with Events Evolution as the new event managers for NAMA.”

“This partnership is set to bring a fresh perspective and innovative ideas to the ceremony, ensuring it continues to exceed expectations,” he said.

However, the significance of an effective events manager cannot be overstated.

They are the backbone of any award show, coordinating various elements such as venue selection, logistics, technical requirements and guest management.

Their ability to work under pressure and adapt to unforeseen challenges is vital in creating a seamless experience for attendees, nominees and winners alike.

Scarlet Studios and Events Evolution have a proven track record in the industry, which is why NACZ has entrusted them with this responsibility.

Nyabinde cited the rigorous process that led to their selection: “Among the shortlisted companies who were invited to do a pitch presentation, Scarlet Studios and Events Evolution as a partnership were outstanding.”

This highlights the necessity of having experienced professionals at the helm of such prestigious events.

Scarlet Studios executive director Reginald Matinanga, said he is happy with the latest development.

“It is good news to us, and as an organisation, we have a big mandate to carry on what has been left by our predecessors, even to do better.

“This commitment to excellence is vital, as the arts community thrives on recognition and appreciation of talent.”

Events like NAMA not only celebrate individual achievements but also elevate the entire arts sector, encouraging new talent and fostering creative growth.

Moreover, the partnership between Scarlet Studios and Events Evolution promises to enhance the overall production quality of NAMA.

Matinanga acknowledged the value of their collaboration: “It is no dispute that they are the best when it comes to stage mounting, lights and design.”

Such expertise is crucial in creating an unforgettable experience for attendees while ensuring that the artistic presentations are showcased to their full potential.

The impact of award shows extends beyond the immediate celebration; they also serve to strengthen relationships within the arts community.

As Matinanga pointed out, “What NAMA means to us is that it is a great way to build the arts community.”

When artists and audiences come together, they create lasting memories and connections that contribute to the cultural fabric of society.

Moreover, arts and entertainment are essential aspects of human experience, and events like NAMA play a significant role in nurturing and celebrating creativity.

With the leadership of Scarlet Studios and Events Evolution, NAMA is set to continue its tradition of honouring artistic excellence and fostering a vibrant arts community in Zimbabwe.
