THE National Arts Council of Zimbabwe (NACZ) has extended the submission deadline for the National Arts Merit Awards (Nama). NACZ communication manager Agga Nyabinde said the extension comes as the original deadline falls on a weekend.
“Please note that as the original deadline of 30 November falls on a Sunday, the deadline has been extended to the next business day. Ensure all your submissions are in on time,” Nyabinde said.

Organisers of the 2026 edition have expressed satisfaction with the response, having received a total of 800 submissions so far. However, they are encouraging even more entries.

This year’s Nama theme is “Fearless Creativity”. The awards feature nine competitive categories alongside an honorary category for Special Awards, bringing the total number of awards to 44.

The National Arts Council, together with its partners, has been running awareness campaigns to encourage participation from artists nationwide.

Creatives are invited to submit works produced between 1 December 2024 and 30 November 2025.

The awards ceremony will be managed by the newly appointed event teams, Scarlet Studios and Events Evolution, who are preparing a glamorous and prestigious event. – Follow on X: @mthabisi_mthire
