Bulawayo’s creative scene came alive on Friday night when NDS Academy, led by Afro-soul producer and DJ Nizhe DeSoul, held its first-ever student showcase, celebrating fresh talent and mentorship.

Held at a local restaurant, the event featured live music, games, food, and drink specials, creating a relaxed and engaging atmosphere as students stepped into the spotlight to perform before a live audience for the very first time.

The showcase marked a significant milestone for the academy, which is fast becoming one of Bulawayo’s leading creative hubs. For the performers, the night was more than just a stage debut, it was the culmination of weeks of mentorship and personal growth under the guidance of Nizhe DeSoul, who is known not only for his artistry but also for his dedication to nurturing emerging talent.

Building on the success of the showcase and responding to strong demand, NDS Academy has announced an extension of its DJ training programme in Bulawayo, which will now run throughout October.

The programme caters to all skill levels, from complete beginners learning the fundamentals of mixing to intermediate and advanced DJs seeking to refine their techniques.

Participants can look forward to tailored lessons, one-on-one mentorship, and hands-on training that covers both the creative and business sides of the music industry. Open to all ages and requiring no prior experience, the training also offers flexible schedules and payment options, making it one of the most accessible entry points into Bulawayo’s fast-growing music landscape.

For Nizhe DeSoul, both the student showcase and the extended training programme reflect a single mission: empowering young creatives to step into the industry with confidence.
“It’s about giving young people the chance to enter the industry with confidence. Whether they’re stepping onto a stage for the first time or learning to mix in a studio, the goal is to build a foundation that can carry them forward,” he said.
