UPCOMING songstress Xantel (born Chantel Gugulethu Sibanda) is set to launch her debut EP, Usizo, on March 6, offering hope and confidence to listeners through her Afro-Soul sound.
The 23-year-old singer will mark her arrival as an Afro-Soul artiste with four tracks produced by Certifyd Audio: Usizo, Ngizizwa, Thatha, and Emoyeni.
Drawing inspiration from real-life experiences, struggles, personal victories, and quiet moments in nature, Xantel aims to create music that listeners can relate to.
“I want to make music people can connect with. Afro-Soul is where it’s at, and I’m bringing a unique style, voice, and creativity to Zimbabwean music. My EP ‘Usizo’ is a big part of that,” she said.
The EP is a motivational journey. The opening track, Usizo, encourages listeners to hold on, reminding them help is near. Ngizizwa explores freedom from stress and depression through support and comfort, while Thatha celebrates finding true love, care, and healing. Finally, Emoyeni, drawn from the phrase ‘Lukhona Usizo’ meaning ‘There’s Help’, embodies the joy and triumph of overcoming life’s challenges.
“I want my music to touch hearts and inspire those who may feel they’ve given up, offering motivation, strength, and resilience through my songs,” Xantel said.
On potential collaborations, she added: “Locally, I’d love to work with Jay Prayzah, whose music is spiritual and reality-based, and MJ Sings. My goal is to create music that resonates with people everywhere.”
Looking ahead, Xantel plans to tour across Zimbabwe and internationally as she officially announces her arrival on the music scene. – Follow on X: @mthabisi_mthire
