President Mnangagwa has appointed a new seven-member Broadcasting Authority of Zimbabwe board to oversee the regulation and development of the broadcasting sector.
The appointments, which are for a four-year term, were announced yesterday by Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Mr Nick Mangwana.
In a statement, Mr Mangwana said the appointments were made in terms of Section 4 (2) of the Broadcasting Services Act (Chapter 12:06).
The new board comprises Tendai Jennifer Mandizvidza, Godfrey Mutobaya, Magna Mudyiwa, Caroline Makoni, Cloud Nyamundanda, Chief Serima (Vengai Rushwaya) and Prime Kufakunesu.
“His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Dr Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, has appointed the following persons as members of the Broadcasting Authority of Zimbabwe Board for a period of four years,” said Mr Mangwana.
BAZ is the statutory body responsible for regulating the country’s broadcasting services, including licensing broadcasters, ensuring compliance with broadcasting laws and promoting the orderly development of the sector.
