AT least 60 students have graduated with diplomas at the 61st Chibhero Agricultural College graduation ceremony in Norton today.
Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development Minister Dr Anxious Masuka is presiding over the graduation ceremony.
Of the 60 graduates, 35 are female.
The cohort brings to 2 346 students to have graduated from the institution since its inception in 1961.
The graduation was running under the theme “Agricultural Research and Innovation, The Foundation for Food Security in Zimbabwe”.
Mashonaland West Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister Marian Chombo commended Chibhero for studiously pursuing the Agricultural Education for Development 5.0 curriculum.
The curriculum emphasises education, extension and business advisory, research, innovation and entrepreneurship, commercialisation and industrialisation.
“I would like to congratulate the college for contributing to food security of the country,” she said.
“The college is actively involved in farming on itself and in its partnership with Pickeldon Investment.”
Chibhero Agricultural College principal Mr Phillip Tichafa Mushayi said the college strives to nurture graduates who will produce goods and services.
“We seek to buttress this by inculcating business sense in our students in response to the Agricultural Education for Development 5.0 curriculum you launched in 2021,” he said.
The college is affiliated with the University of Zimbabwe.
