The Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) has announced the appointment of acclaimed strategist Dr George Munyaradzi Manyaya as its new chief executive officer, effective 1 February 2026.
The move is seen as a major boost for the nation’s travel sector as it seeks to modernise and compete on the global stage.
Dr Manyaya joins the ZTA with a formidable reputation for leadership across several key sectors that underpin the tourism value chain, including aviation, transport, telecommunications, and energy.
He transitionally moves from ZESA Holdings, where he served as the General Manager for Marketing, Communications, and Stakeholder Relations.
His academic profile is equally distinguished, holding a Doctorate in Business Management alongside master’s degrees in International Relations, Strategic Management, and Corporate Governance.
A veteran of both the public and private sectors, Dr Manyaya currently serves as the Chairman of the Zimbabwe National Administration (ZINARA).
During his tenure there, he has been credited with leading successful rebranding efforts and introducing critical governance and modernisation initiatives.
His ties to the tourism sector are deep-rooted, having previously served as a Tourism Brand Ambassador and as a member of the Organising Committee for the landmark 2013 United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) General Assembly, which was co-hosted by Zimbabwe and Zambia.
