HARDROCK head coach Kelvin Kaindu is just that man that does not stop believing!
The Zambian gaffer recently switched from former Premiership football champions Dynamos to newly-promoted Kwekwe-based PSL side Hardrock.
“The only thing that I can talk about at this time, it’s really hot in Kwekwe. I’m, trying to adapt with others and we are getting there,” said Kaindu.
“We are still adapting to the conditions just like everyone who is new. It’s a new environment probably ahead of a challenging season,” he added.
Kaindu said they are looking forward to using Chahwanda Stadium as their fortress.
“It’s a new season for us and everyone. Looking at the infrastructure that we have, it shows that we are ready to compete. This is the kind of infrastructure that we have, our own home ground, some teams don’t have. This means we are here to compete and not make numbers,” said the God-fearing ex-Bosso gaffer.
He said his side, whose final 30 he is yet to finalise, will adopt to the infrastructure at the magnificent Chahwanda Stadium.
“I think it’s a new team and looking at the infrastructure that we have, and the environment, we want to compete, we have a place we call our home. It has been okay, our squad is almost complete and we know who is there who is not in. However, we are still working on some player combinations,” said Kaindu.
In a surprise move, Kaindu left the Harare giants Dynamos for a two-year contract with newly-promoted Premier Soccer League side Hardrock.
Fondly known as KK, Kaindu is at a club playing Premiership football for the first time.
The club, which got on board Wellington Mupandare as chairman, an experienced football personality, added experienced coaches Prince Matore and Calvin Maphosa, while Munyaradzi Diya is the goalkeepers’ trainer.
The Zambian coach helped Dynamos survive relegation and won the Chibuku Super Cup.
Hardrock’s appointment of Kaindu signalled a clear intent to consolidate their status in the PSL.
Kaindu arrives with a growing reputation for tactical astuteness and mental resilience, qualities forged during one of the most remarkable relegation escapes in recent PSL history.
The Zambian tactician joined struggling giants Dynamos mid-season when their situation was very bad.
At the beginning of August, with just 11 matches remaining, Dynamos languished in 17th place — seven points adrift of safety. What followed was extraordinary.
Kaindu went on an 11-match unbeaten run, culminating in the Glamour Boys securing their top-flight status on the final day of the season.
The feat underscored not only Kaindu’s technical competence but also his ability to instil belief, discipline and a winning mentality in a desperate dressing room — qualities Hardrock will rely on as they navigate the treacherous waters of the PSL.
