Geo Pomona Waste Management has expressed profound sadness and remorse after one of its vehicles was today involved in a fatal road traffic accident that tragically claimed the life of a prominent freelance journalist.

In an official statement released by the company, Geo Pomona conveyed its deepest condolences to the grieving family, friends and colleagues of the deceased.

“We are deeply saddened by this tragic incident, and our heartfelt condolences go to the family and loved ones of the deceased,” the statement read.

“We extend our deepest sympathies to everyone who has been affected by this devastating loss during what is undoubtedly an extremely difficult and painful time.”

The company confirmed that it has made contact with the victim’s family to offer support while emphasising that it would respect their privacy during the grieving process.

Following the collision, the matter was reported to local authorities, who have commenced official investigations to determine circumstances surrounding the crash. Geo Pomona stated that it is fully cooperating with law enforcement agencies in their ongoing probe.

Parallel to the police investigation, the waste management firm announced it is initiating an internal review of its safety and risk-management protocols.

“The safety and wellbeing of our employees, communities and all road users remain of the utmost importance to Geo Pomona,” the company stated, adding that an appropriate review is being conducted in accordance with its safety and incident-management procedures.

Geo Pomona declined to share further specifics regarding the location, time or precise cause of the accident, citing ongoing official investigations and respect for the bereaved family.

“Out of respect for the deceased and their family, and while the official investigation is ongoing, we will refrain from speculating on the circumstances of the incident or making any further comment that could interfere with or prejudice the investigation,” the company added.

Further details regarding the identity of the journalist and official police findings are expected to be released as investigations proceed.
