NEW: Indian businesses urged to expand investments in Bulawayo

INDIAN businesses have been urged to expand their investments in Bulawayo.

Minister of State for Bulawayo Provincial Affairs and Devolution Judith Ncube made the call following a courtesy call by India’s Ambassador to Zimbabwe Mr Bramha Kumar at her office on Friday.

She said there was significant potential for Zimbabwe and India to explore abundant opportunities to transform and expand bilateral relations in the near future, while commending trade and investment ties between the two countries as critical to Bulawayo’s development.

Ambassador Kumar said he was engaging officials from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and International Trade; Industry and Commerce, as well as other key Government ministries, to ensure the establishment of enabling government-to-government frameworks that promote and facilitate business interactions.

He added that Zimbabwean and Indian trade bodies, together with peoples of the two countries, should further strengthen existing relations to deepen cooperation.

Meanwhile, more than 300 students at the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) participated in an interactive Yoga and wellness session as part of the India-Zimbabwe cultural exchange and cooperation programme.

The session, which served as a build-up to the upcoming 12th International Day of Yoga (IDY) celebrations, was organised by the Embassy of India in collaboration with the Zimbabwe Medical Students Association (ZIMSA) and The Art of Living Foundation.

Students received training in basic yoga postures and breathing exercises aimed at helping them manage stress, improve focus, and maintain their physical and mental well-being.

“Through these Yoga activities, we remain committed to strengthening the close cultural ties between India and Zimbabwe and supporting healthy, stress-free lifestyles.

“The great interest and active engagement shown by the students have given us motivation to expand these wellness programmes. Moving forward, we plan to host future Yoga events on a grander scale to share these healthy lifestyle practices with as many Zimbabweans as possible across the country,” Ambassador Kumar said.
