ANTICIPATION reached a boiling point across Zimbabwean football circles as the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) officially unveiled head coach Ramón Catalá’s squad for the upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

The announcement, posted across ZIFA’s official social media channels, marks the technical kickoff of the “Dream 2030” project under Catalá, the UEFA Pro Licence holder appointed to direct the Warriors’ tactical overhaul alongside fellow Spanish assistants Marc Sánchez and Vicente Girona Izquierdo.

Entering his first official assignment ahead of back-to-back Group E matches against Sierra Leone and the Democratic Republic of Congo, Catalá’s debut selection combines dependable core internationals with strategic new inclusions.

Among the standout headlines in the squad is the call-up of South Africa-based forward Junior Zindoga (TS Galaxy), whose impressive club form earned him a spot in Catalá’s frontline overhaul. Red-hot AmaZulu FC striker Thando Ngwenya also makes the squad. Another interesting include UK-based Isaac Mabaya.

“We are combining Zimbabwean talent with world-class methodology,” ZIFA reiterated during the unveiling.

“Dream 2030 is about establishing a unified national playing philosophy — from the Under-15 grassroots all the way to the senior national team.”
