NEW: President Mnangagwa appoints eight to Zimbabwe Media Commission and four members to the Gender Commission

PRESIDENT MNANGAGWA has appointed eight members to serve on the Zimbabwe Media Commission (ZMC), fulfilling constitutional mandates to regulate and oversee the country’s media landscape.

The appointments, which were made in terms of Section 248(1)(b) of the Constitution of Zimbabwe, were announced in a statement by Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet Dr Martin Rushwaya on Saturday.

The newly appointed members are Susan Makore, Caesar Zvayi, Munyaradzi Hwengwere, Rufaro Ellen Mhandu, Thokozile Chitepo, Merit Thokozile Munzwembiri, Tapiwa Mashakada and Tanaka Muganyi.

ZMC is the constitutional body responsible for promoting, developing and upholding media freedom and independence in Zimbabwe.

Meanwhile, the President has also appointed four members to the Zimbabwe Gender Commission.

The newly appointed members are Cowen Dziva, Thokozile Ruzvidzo, Mildred Mushunje and Tsanangurai Chirau.
