THE Government has commissioned two utility vehicles and two motorbikes worth over US$61 000 procured by Gweru City Council aimed at improving service delivery.
The Minister of State for Midlands Provincial Affairs and Devolution Owen Ncube commissioned the vehicles and motorbikes at a function held at the townhouse on Friday afternoon.
Addressing councillors, management and residents attending the ceremony, Minister Ncube said the vehicles and motorbikes were bought through internally mobilised funds illustrating the local authority’s commendable budget performance.
“This event confirms the transformational strategies of the New Dispensation under the able and visionary leadership of President Mnangagwa, to leapfrog livelihoods in line with the shared desire to enhance service delivery underpinned by the Call to Action Blueprint, ” he said.
Minister Ncube applauded GCC for embracing the Vision 2030 by accelerating Call to Action Model through utilisation of devolution funds.
He said the mobility of council employees will improve quality and speed up service delivery as we march towards attainment of a prosperous and empowered upper middle-income society earlier than 2030.
