Zimbabwean sculpture is drawing significant attention at the China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) 2026 in Beijing, with Chinese visitors and buyers expressing keen interest in the country’s distinctive stone artworks.
The international trade fair, which opened on Wednesday and runs until Sunday, has attracted more than 1 800 exhibitors from 90 countries, providing Zimbabwe with an important platform to showcase its creative industries and investment opportunities.
Speaking to the Zimpapers Politics Hub at the fair, an official from the Zimbabwe Embassy in China, Mr David Ndarama, said the country’s sculptures had emerged as a major attraction.
“We are particularly showcasing Zimbabwean works of sculpture, and these have grabbed the attention of the Chinese. They are very interested to buy these works of art,” he said.
Mr Ndarama said the exhibition was also helping to deepen cultural exchange between Zimbabwe and China, while creating opportunities for local artists to access international markets.
The Zimbabwean Embassy, ZimTrade and the Zimbabwe Investment and Development Agency (ZIDA) are participating at the fair.
More than 250 000 delegates and visitors have attended, with Zimbabwe attracting potential buyers and investors across several sectors.
Vice President Constantino Chiwenga also attended the fair this week, where he held meetings with senior Chinese Government officials and investors.
