NKOSAZANA Daughter, the high-riding South African artist, will have to wait a little longer to make history as the first foreign artist to feature at the Doek & Slay all-women’s party.
She was expected to be the headline act in the City of Kings and Queens at the show which was supposed to be held on Sunday.
Yesterday, the organisers said the show has been postponed because Nkosazana Daughter is not available this coming weekend.
The Bulawayo edition will be the last bus stop for the series of the opening editions of the Doek & Slay parties in the first half of the year.In a statement to their patrons in Bulawayo, the organisers said:
“This hurts us too. You welcomed us with so much love last time and we hate letting you down.
“We’ve heard your feedback loud and clear, the line-up needs to be fire, and you’re right.
“Due to unexpected challenges, the main act you requested isn’t available for our proposed date.”
Those who had already purchased advance passes were assured that their tickets will remain valid for the rescheduled date.
The organisers also said they were engaging other artists, which were requested by the fans, and promised to return with an even bigger show.
“As usual, when we restrategise, we go far beyond what you can imagine. “When we come back, we’re bringing heat. The wait will be worth it,” they said.
No new date has been announced yet, but organisers said it will be revealed once final arrangements have been completed.
Over the years, Doek & Slay has built a loyal following in Zimbabwe and beyond, attracting large crowds, wherever it is hosted.
After moving from different cities the past month, last Sunday the ladies’ party rolled into Harare with thousands of women making their way to the Glamis Arena.
The platform, created by Event Hulks, has become far more than a social gathering.
The next series of parties are set to start in August. Events Hulk are even organising one show to be held in the United Kingdom in September.
