BABA Harare says there is nothing wrong about releasing his new album on the same day as Mark Ngwazi on August 1.

The 37-year-old is busy in the studio putting the final touches on his 12th album due for release on August 1.

It has been dubbed ‘Pedzai Navo.’

Asked why he was also releasing his album on the same day Mark Ngwazi was launching his album, Baba Harare said:

“Our release date was planned well in advance, and I don’t believe one artist’s release should take away from another artist.

“Music lovers appreciate different styles, and that’s the beauty of our industry.

“Mark Ngwazi has his audience and his own unique sound, while I have mine.

“I think it’s a great opportunity for fans to enjoy different flavours of Zimbabwean music on the same day, and I wish him nothing but success with his release.”

Baba Harare says he is hungry for more success.

“The name ‘Pedzai Navo’ means a great deal to me,” he told Zimpapers Arts and Entertainment Hub.

“The name represents growth, both personally and musically.

“This is my second album since returning from gospel to Jiti music and I believe it reflects how much I have evolved as an artist.

“It captures the different sounds I wanted to experiment with, the lessons I’ve learnt along the way, and the direction I want my music to take. “I poured a lot of myself into this project and I believe people will hear that when they listen to it.”

Asked to share the album’s tracklist, Baba Harare said:

“At the moment, we’re still finalising the tracklist as a team.

“We’ve been working through a few different versions to make sure we choose the strongest collection of songs.

“Once we’ve agreed on the final tracklist, we’ll be happy to share it with everyone.”

Baba Harare went full circle for talented producers for this album.

“I had the privilege of working with several talented producers, including Nyasha Timbe, Ghost Magician and Taddex, among others.

“Each producer brings a unique sound and creative approach, which allowed us to give every song its own identity while still keeping the album cohesive.

“I chose to work with them because they understand my vision and consistently bring out the best in my music.”

He also gave an insight of themes shared in the album.

“The album explores a variety of themes that people can relate to in everyday life.

“It touches on love, relationships, daily experiences and some of the thoughts and emotions we all have towards the people around us.

“In many ways, it’s a social commentary on life, told through music that people can enjoy and connect.”

Baba Harare, who has shown his versatility over the years by playing several genres ranging from Jiti, gospel to reggae, believe she has matured in the game.

“I’ve released more than ten albums over the course of my career.

“Each one represents a different chapter of my musical journey and has contributed to the artist I am today.

“I want to assure my fans that I’ve worked incredibly hard to deliver an album they’ll truly enjoy and identify with.

“Their support has always motivated me to keep raising the bar and ‘Pedzai Navo’ is a reflection of that commitment.

“Before the end of the year, they can expect great music, exciting performances and more projects that celebrate the journey we’ve shared together.”
