Without fear or favour, it should be mentioned that the 10th Castle Lager Braai Festival at the Glamis Arena in Harare on Saturday belonged to the new crop of artistes dubbed the “Young Turks,” led by Nutty O.
The Mbare-bred chanter was in a league of his own as he delivered a flawless performance, set to remain etched in the minds of many for years to come.
The young lad excels in every department.
He simply enjoys his craft, and those who graced the Glamis Arena can easily testify to that effect. He came to show the world how he has matured as a musician.
To think he was that boy whose evolution was under a microscope would be an understatement. The stage communication and interaction he showcased will always remain on many people’s lips. He delivered on the day many looked up to him. The pint-sized chanter, who has invested heavily in a live band, simplified his performance by playing sing-along tracks.
His playlist included songs such as “Handipere Power,” and “Boom Shelele.”
With such a playlist, what more can one ask for from this lad? He showcased all his artistic verve on a day when he represented youthful musicians with pride.
“I always give it my all; it feels great being supported like this,” he pointed out afterward. To be honest, I respect my fans who have always rallied behind me. It feels good being appreciated like this because it means a lot to us.”
Nutty O, who has amassed several awards, told Zimpapers Arts and Entertainment Hub that he would remain level-headed.
“My only trick is that I have always respected my fans, and I will always remain like that. I pay a lot of attention to the people who support me. I just respect my fans.”
Similar sentiments were echoed by Saintfloew, who has just recovered from an illness.
“I thoroughly enjoyed this show because it meant a lot to me.
I was humbled by the support that I got here at the Castle Lager Braai Fest. For me, it means a lot being supported like this. I will always cherish that support that I have been receiving over the years.”
Saintfloew, who has remained a role model to many, has vowed to maintain his consistency.
“I always worked hard, and that alone has made me who I am today. I love my job because I am making a living out of it. I just love what I do, and fans should expect more from me. “They should expect a new album in November, and this is going to be my Christmas present to them. I have done my best, and this is the best way I can honour their loyalty over the years.”
Merry makers had a memorable day of braaing and dancing to good music. People’s favourite, Winky D, had a good day in the office.
Tamy Moyo delivered one of her best acts at the show, despite performing earlier when people were still trickling in.
She showed class and was on top of her game. The same can be said of Ammara Brown, who hardly disappoints. To say her act was perfect would be an understatement; “magical” can aptly sum up how prepared she was. Ammara, whose affairs are being managed by Chido Musasiwa, justified her inclusion as she belted out both her dad Andy Brown’s songs and her own compositions.
The diva, who has been keeping a low profile while looking after her new baby, made a triumphant return as she delivered with perfection on a night when many expected her to shine.
