Offset returns to stage in a wheelchair days after being shot

Offset has performed at Coachella days after being shot. Offset, whose real name is Kiari Kendrell Cephus, was shot last week on Monday night following a fight at the Seminole Hard Rock in Hollywood, just north of Miami.

Last week on Tuesday, a spokesperson for the rapper and singer confirmed that he was in stable condition, but his condition remained unknown. Police said the injuries were not life-threatening.

“Offset has been released from the hospital, and he is up and walking,” a representative for Offset said on Friday. “We’re incredibly grateful to the doctors, nurses, and the entire hospital staff who took such great care of him.”

But while many would be sitting at home resting up after such a terrifying ordeal, he managed to make his return to the stage at Coachella on Saturday night.

The star took to Instagram to share a video of himself on stage, sitting in a wheelchair before standing to deliver a performance, delighting the packed crowd.

And the crowd appeared overjoyed, holding their hands in the air to celebrate the musician’s return to performing, as cups of water were thrown into the air.

Captioning his post, he penned: “Real love,” alongside a red heart emoji.

Busta Rhymes commented with a string of fire emojis. Musician Felix The Sultan penned:

“May Allah continues to protect you brother… True.”

‘Real legend,” said one fan. A second went on to add: “I’m glad he’s able to be there and perform. Life is precious. He definitely had his guardian angel watching over him.”

“Good job Offset, so happy to see you back on track, God is great,” another commented.

On Friday, Offset took to his Instagram to thank fans for their support after the incident.

He said in a statement: “Thank you to everyone who’s checked in on me and showed me love! I’m good….but I’m planning to be better! I’m focused on my family, my recovery, and getting back to the music… Realising that life is made up of quiet wins and loud losses…

“Life’s a gamble, and I’m still playing to win.”

Earlier this week, officers detained two people. The rapper Lil Tjay, born Tione Jayden Merritt, was arrested in connection with the altercation that occurred before the shooting, the Seminole Police Department in Florida said. He was charged with disorderly conduct and operating a vehicle without a valid license.

The second person detained at the scene has not been charged, and investigators were working to identify others involved, police said in a statement Tuesday.

Seminole County police said: “We are aware of an incident that occurred at a valet area after 7 pm Monday outside of Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood that resulted in non-life-threatening injuries to an individual who was transported to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood.”

The force added: “Seminole Police were on site immediately, and the situation was contained quickly. Two individuals have been detained by police. The investigation is ongoing. The site is secure and there is no threat to the public. Operations continue as normal.”

Offset gained recognition as part of the hip-hop trio Migos, alongside rappers Quavo and Takeoff, who tragically died in 2022.

The group initially achieved success with their 2013 single Versace before experiencing greater commercial acclaim following a Drake remix, and were also celebrated for the song Bad And Boujee, which earned them a Grammy nomination. —Mirror.
