American rapper Offset is currently recovering after being shot near a casino in Florida and is also dealing with a casino debt of $100000 (R1.64 million)
According to TMZ, the MotorCity Casino Hotel is suing the rapper, claiming he opened a $100 000 credit line with the casino so he could keep a night of gambling fun going back in March 2024.
A representative for Offset told TMZ, “We are working toward a resolution.”
According to documents obtained by TMZ, the casino couldn’t reach Offset and tried to withdraw the money directly from his account, per the agreement when he opened the credit line. However, allegedly, there wasn’t enough money in it to pay off the debt.
The casino’s suing Offset for breach of contract, fraud, and more. The lawsuit was filed just days before he was shot outside the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Florida.
Police reported that Offset, whose real name is Kiari Kendrell Cephus, was shot at about 7.00pm.
Police spokesperson Gary Bitney told publications that the situation began as a fight and confirmed that another person was detained at the scene, but has not been charged.He also said that the investigation is ongoing as officers work to identify additional people who may have been involved.
Offset’s financial woes seem to be worsening, as in December 2025, he reportedly settled a $1,575,266.73 (R 28,400,000) lien related to the 2022 tax year. As of early 2026, he still faced roughly $778,426 (R14,000,000) in outstanding tax liens. — IOL.
