MORE than 900 graduates were today awarded certificates after completing various courses at four vocational training centres across Masvingo province.

The graduation ceremony took place at Mushagashe Vocational Training Centre, where Youth Empowerment, Development and Vocational Training Minister Tinoda Machakaire handed over the certificates during the 13th graduation ceremony.

Graduates completed their courses at Mushagashe, Masvingo Urban, Chivi-Mhandamabwe and Gutu Vocational Training Centres.

They graduated after completing vocational training courses such as sewing, carpentry, building, motor mechanics, brick laying, among others.

The graduation was held under the theme, “Innovate, Digitalise, Enterprise Training and Skills Development: Combating Drugs and Substance Abuse”.

In his address, Minister Machakaire challenged the graduates to shun drugs and substances and spearhead development in their localities by using their own hands to create employment.

Minister Machakaire challenged the graduates to rise from the ground and create enterprises that will anchor Zimbabwe’s march towards Vision 2030.

Mushagashe VTC principal Ms Ruth Kutsirayi thanked the Second Republic for supporting vocational training centres and highlighted a number of inroads made by her institution.

She revealed that Mushagashe VTC acquired a bus and had initiated many income-generating projects to achieve self-sustainability.
