TWO men from Ntabazinduna in Umguza District appeared before the Bulawayo Regional Court yesterday, facing charges of attempted murder after allegedly stabbing their neighbour during a village dispute.

Jullen Sibanda (40) and Ngqabutho Ncube, whose age was not given, both of Mgiqwa Line in Ntabazinduna, appeared before regional magistrate Ms Sibonginkosi Mkandla.

The duo was remanded in custody to today for trial.

Prosecuting, Mr Jethro Mada told the court that on October 4, last year at around 8PM, the two accused persons went to the homestead of the complainant, Mr Eric Dube, looking for him, but failed to find him.

The court heard that later that evening, Sibanda and Ncube encountered Mr Dube elsewhere in the village, where they allegedly attacked him.

“The accused persons took turns to stab the complainant with a metal object,” said Mr Mada.

He said Mr Dube was stabbed once on the head and once on each leg, sustaining a deep cut to the head, as well as injuries to both legs.

The motive for the attack was not disclosed in the court papers.

Following the assault, the complainant was rushed to hospital.

The matter was reported to the police leading to the arrest of the two accused.
