Faith Ministries International Church Pastor Kudzai Ngoni Nyamasoka, who is involved in a land dispute with neighbouring church in Mbare, appeared in court yesterday.
Nyamasoka (29) appeared before Harare magistrate, Mr Dennis Mangosi, who charged him with fraud and forgery.
The State consented to US$200 bail.
He is expected to return to court on June 26, but this time at the Mbare Magistrates Court.
The complainant in the matter is City of Harare, represented by Mr Million Sambona, the district officer for Mbare.
It is the State’s case that in January, Faith Ministries got embroiled in a dispute over a piece of land adjacent to its church, which was temporarily leased to True Believers International Ministries (Stand 4166 Madzima Road, Mbare, Harare) by the City of Harare.
Prior to the stand being leased to True Believers, Faith Ministries was using it as a car park for its congregants.
Sometime in March, Faith Ministries unsuccessfully applied for the same land as an extension of their church stand.
The court heard, thereafter that Faith Ministries, through Nyamasoka, embarked on victimising members of True Believers.
Nyamasoka would engage individuals, who would purport to be from the Zimbabwe Republic Police, the President’s Department and Zanu PF Youth League, and would harass members of True Believers and council officials to vacate the stand.
In April, Nyamasoka started calling council officials purporting to be Phiri, an official from ZACC, warning them to rescind the allocation of the stand to True Believers.
He also called John Chitumba, a pastor at True Believers, and introduced himself as Phiri, allegedly from ZACC.
Nyamasoka went a step further and generated a letter, on May 10, warning Mr Sambona who is based at the City of Harare’s Mbare District Office to desist from proceeding with the allocation as the matter was under investigation by ZACC.
