THE Nedbank Premier Netball League resumes this weekend for the second half of the season after a month-long break with all matches set for Harare on Saturday.
The league games are played in clusters and, as the second round begins they will have two clusters with the first one set for Saturday and the second one is scheduled for July 22 before taking another break during the Vitality Netball World Cup.
The World Cup is running from July 28 to August 6 in Cape Town, South Africa.
PNL secretary general Liberty Mhizha confirmed they will take another break during the World Cup.
Saturday’s games will be played at Glen View 1 High School.
“The first and second cluster of this bubble will be in Harare. Then 22 July we are hosting another cluster in Checheche, then we take a break for the sake of athletes to go and attend the World Cup.
“We resume on August 13 after the World Cup. We are going to get a week after the World Cup for the sake of those that would have been away to recuperate.”
Mhizha said they will ensure they conclude the league on time despite the planned second break.
“We anticipate we can finish the league games by November 10 before the rains begin,” said Mhizha.
The PNL secretary general said they are rallying behind the Gems and would want to see the team succeeding at the world stage.
Log leaders Platinum Queens will be hoping to continue from where they left as they seek to defend the title again this year.
They face Filchrist Boarding, Waterfalls and Zupco this weekend.
