POLICE have launched investigations into an accident in which nine people died and 26 others were injured after a passenger bus collided with a goods train at a level crossing in Triangle, Masvingo Province, yesterday morning.
The accident occurred along Mbizi Road at around 8.43am.

He said the death toll remained at nine by last night, while relevant stakeholders continued to attend to the situation on the ground.
The Makuku Bus, travelling from Chikombedzi to Masvingo, collided with a goods train at a rail-level crossing.
Meanwhile, the National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ) has urged motorists to strictly observe level crossing regulations to prevent loss of life and injuries.
In a statement, NRZ public affairs and stakeholder relations manager Mr Andrew Kunambura said the train was travelling from Triangle to the NRZ Lundi siding when the accident occurred.
“The accident occurred when the driver of the bus failed to observe level crossing rules, which require drivers to stop and check for oncoming trains before proceeding,” he said.
“Our deepest thoughts and condolences go out to the families and loved ones affected by this tragic event. We also wish a speedy recovery to the injured passengers.
“We would also like to urge all motorists to strictly observe level crossing regulations to avoid loss of lives and injuries.”
