A marriage involving a well-known Emakhandeni clothes dealer, Mr Mqondisi Dube, is reportedly under strain following the circulation of pictures allegedly showing him in a compromising situation with another man.
Mr Dube, who is popular in the high-density suburb for his thriving clothing business, is married to Ms Ayanda Yelemani. Sources close to the family say the images have caused serious tension in the marriage and sparked heated reactions within the community.
A neighbour, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the pictures were allegedly discovered by Ms Yelemani, who then showed them to several people in the neighbourhood.
“From what we heard, Ayanda is the one who first saw the pictures on his phone. She was very angry and showed them to people nearby, and that is when the situation got out of hand,” said the neighbour.
Following the circulation of the images, Mr Dube and the other man allegedly involved were confronted by members of the public, resulting in both sustaining injuries. The two were later taken into police custody.
Police have since confirmed that the pair were arrested in connection with an alleged indecent act, and investigations are ongoing.
Community leaders have condemned the violence that followed the incident, urging residents to allow law enforcement agencies to handle such matters and to avoid taking the law into their own hands.
Meanwhile, efforts to obtain a comment from Mr Dube and Ms Yelemani were unsuccessful at the time of going to print.
