PRESIDENT Mnangagwa yesterday commended the Chief Secretary in the Office of the President and Cabinet, Dr Martin Rushwaya, for ably supporting the weighty functions of the Executive this year.

In his remarks at the last Cabinet meeting for the year at State House in Harare, the President commended the Chief Secretary for his exceptional efforts in ensuring that ministries were operating effectively.

“The year saw the Chief Secretary undertaking familiarisation visits to ministries where matters peculiar to your portfolios, mandates, together with the annual Cabinet Business Calendar, administrative arrangements and practices were under the spotlight,” he said. “This forum opened up areas of further attention and brought up innovative ways of creating a seamless executive function.

“Going forward, this exercise must be embedded in our system and undertaken regularly, so as to deepen the Whole of Government and Society Approach to our development agenda.”

President Mnangagwa said mechanisms must be put in place to ensure that the momentum gained during the course of 2025 is sustained, going into the new year.

“Government services across all ministries should continue to be provided throughout the festive season. On our part, let us stand ready to avail ourselves to attend to urgent business which may arise,” said President Mnangagwa.

He then congratulated Cabinet members for a successful and fruitful 2025 Cabinet calendar.

The President said Cabinet conducted business with befitting diligence and commitment.

“Let us now take this well-earned holiday break to join our families and communities,” said the President.
