PRESIDENT Mnangagwa has departed Zimbabwe for South Africa to participate in the 2025 Liberation Movements Summit.
The high-level gathering brings together leaders of liberation movements from across Southern Africa to discuss strategies for regional unity and development.
The Summit is being held under the theme, “Defending the Liberation Gains, Advancing Integrated Socio-Economic Development, Strengthening Solidarity for a Better Africa.”
It aims to reinforce the solidarity among former liberation movements while addressing contemporary challenges facing the region and the continent at large.
President Mnangagwa’s attendance underscores Zimbabwe’s commitment to strengthening regional cooperation and promoting integrated socio-economic progress.
The event will provide a platform for exchanging ideas, reaffirming ideological commitments, and coordinating collaborative efforts to overcome emerging global and regional challenges.
Zimbabwe joins fellow Southern African liberation movements, including the African National Congress (South Africa), MPLA (Angola), FRELIMO (Mozambique), SWAPO (Namibia), and CCM (Tanzania), in this important regional forum.
