PERMANENT Secretary in the Ministry of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare Mr Simon Masanga has called on delegates attending the Ministry’s strategic planning workshop at a Bulawayo hotel to be robust in their deliberations.

The strategic planning workshop kicked off on Monday and is aimed at coming up with a five year strategic plan for the Ministry and this plan will be aligned to the National Development Strategy 2 (NDS2).
“Strategic planning workshops are about telling each other the truth, it’s about doing things differently instead of repeating issues which won’t be of any value to our cause,” said Mr Masanga.

He said the discussions, while being robust and leaving nothing behind, must be done respectfully and professionally.
Speaking during the opening day on Monday, Mr Wilson Kaerezi, Director of Human Resources in the Ministry, said the workshop is expected to develop an annual plan for 2026.
“We will also develop a performance contract for our Minister, his deputy, as well as the permanent secretary,” said Mr Kaerezi.
He said at the end of the workshop on Friday, they would have developed provincial and district plans, strategic performance plans, sub-programme residential care facilitation and institutions.
Public Service Labour and Social Welfare Minister, Edgar Moyo, is expected to officially open the workshop on Wednesday.
