HIP-HOP artist R Peels is now focusing on commercialising his music after his 10th album.

Early this year he released a track titled “Nine Years Later,” which he said marked his nine years in the music industry.

R Peels believes that he is still laying a foundation for his career.

In an interview with H-Metro, R Peels pointed out that he is working hard to be a better version for younger artist.

“Nine Years Later is a record that I made, it’s a sequel, we have a song called Five Years Later, it marks my ninth year in the industry, since I released my first album, this is the ninth year, so yeah, it’s been a long time, and I’ve always regarded ten years to be just a foundation for my career, for what I want to really do.

“A lot of people, they put me on blast saying, Peels in ten years, what have you done, but I’ve only been building a foundation, I have a lot more things to do, I want to open a record label, I want to sponsor other artists, I want to sign and write music for other young so I have a bigger vision than just myself.

“I want to release ten albums in ten years just for foundation and then I can start doing the commercial strides that I want to do.

“So nine years later is a mark for my ninth year, I am only left with one year to release the last album to my foundation.

“Then it’s good to go for any other things that are coming after, which are going to be the music business and everything else that comes after the foundation. “Otherwise, I am still laying the foundation and I’m here to stay,” he said.

The rapper and lyricist said his next project will be a clean piece of work.

“I want to have a little bit more fun. That’s why you see earlier this year, I was doing some battling, I was doing some beefs.

“I’m just making sure when I make the next project, I don’t have any negative energy. I don’t have any war mindset towards the industry.”

Born Tanaka Mungoyo in Harare on October 23, 1994, R Peels started rapping at an early age with inspiration from the likes of Lil Wayne, T.I, Jay-Z, Rick Ross, Kanye West and Drake.
