JOHANNESBURG. – South African rapper Emtee is going through a heartbreaking time that has left his fans deeply worried.
During a recent Instagram Live, the 33-year-old broke down in tears as he opened up about a string of personal and financial blows.
Emtee revealed the most shocking part of his struggles, which involves his 2021 album, “Logan”, which features songs like “Johustleburg” and “iThemba”.
Emtee claimed that he was robbed of R700k in royalties.
While the digital distributor, Platoon, reportedly processed the payouts, Emtee has indicated that he has not received the funds.
It was allegedly discovered just last week that someone had swapped the banking details.
For three years, instead of the money going into Emtee’s business account, someone else has been collecting the monthly royalties.
On top of the money being stolen, Emtee’s personal life is in turmoil.
Following the announcement of his pending divorce from Nicole Chinsamy, he revealed that he has been kicked out of his home and is currently not allowed to see his children.
The split follows years of public drama, including a 2023 assault allegation that was later withdrawn, financial disputes and cheating rumours involving leaked DMs in 2025.
Meanwhile, the pain of losing his home, money, and his family all at once was visible as he spoke to his followers, sparking a wave of support across social media.
The “Big Hustle” has received a massive wave of support across social media.
@Aalimah_97 commented: “The music industry is an evil place, where talents are exploited, and people made to sell their souls, we should be worried and not make unwanted claims with peoples mental health.”
@omegachemhere, noticed a sad pattern in the artist’s life, saying: “Honest, the most sad artist in South Africa. I have never seen him happy or laughing or genuinely smelling (smiling)!!”

Some fans believe he needs to step away for a while to heal, as @siyabonga_i_m suggested: “Emtee should take a break from the entertainment industry for a year or two and come back stronger. He’ll survive because he has a strong fan base.”
